Food waste petition

Alice Humphries joins Martin Joseph and local Lib Dems in presenting the petition to Mole Valley

Following the shock withdrawal of the trial in Bookham and Fetcham for separate weekly collection of food waste, the Liberal Democrat team swung into action and collected over 1200 signatures on a petition demanding reinstatement of this popular scheme.

The District Council was impressed by the case put forward by Martin Joseph in submitting the petition and by the depth of public support.

The good news is that on June 29th the green "caddies" were called back into service as funding was secured from the County Council and BIFFA. In welcoming this development Liberal Democrat Councillor Andrew Freeman said "On the doorstep there was overwhelming praise for the scheme and horror that it was being axed, going against the trend of ever-increasing recycling. I hope that the scheme now goes from strength to strength and that it will be rolled out across Mole Valley in the not too distant future. Many thanks to all who supported our petition"
