Dorking town centre is being let down by our council

Drive through Reigate, Epsom and Guildford and you see flowers and well kept verges. Drive through Mole Valley and there are no flowers and often litter-strewn verges. This year the Conservative Executive has removed all hanging baskets in Dorking and drastically cut back on parks and open spaces maintenance. Add to that significant increases in daytime parking charges, evening parking charges, inadequate litter collections, the closing of the Visitor Centre, major cuts at Dorking Halls and the suggestion that Pippbrook might be sold for housing.

"Just what are the Conservatives trying to achieve?" said Councillor Caroline Salmon. "They should be capable of providing and maintaining basic services and helping Dorking to keep a thriving and viable town centre. The Conservatives have to go if we are to have any chance of improving and enhancing the town."
