Dorking Halls petition

Lib Dem campaigners petition to support Dorking Halls

Mole Valley's Conservative Executive has decided to close the Visitor Centre currently operated at Dorking Halls. The decision appears to have been taken without proper consideration either of the effects on the viability of the town centre or finding alternative ways of dealing with the large number of enquiries received. For example the Executive has decided that enquiries should be routed to Reception in Pippbrook even though Reception is closed at weekends when the majority of enquiries are received.

Councillor Margaret Cooksey said, "This is a retrograde step. At a time when we should be doing everything possible to encourage visitors to Dorking and throughout Mole Valley to boost the local economy the Conservatives are removing a facility which helps to achieve this.

"It is yet another unnecessary measure by a Conservative administration that neither listens nor cares."
