Alice Humphreys leading the campaign to save lunches at Silver Court

Residents of Silver Court in Leatherhead are celebrating victory. After a vigorous campaign, led by Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Alice Humphreys, Councillor Bridget Lewis-Carr and local residents Ray Houlgate and Peter Humphreys, Mole Valley Housing Association (MVHA) has backed down from its plans to scrap lunchtime meals for residents. Instead, the meals service will continue with a small increase in charges.

The campaign garnered 576 signatures on a petition that was presented to MVHA last year. Commenting, Alice Humphreys said: "This is great news for the residents of Silver Court, and just goes to show what can be achieved when a community gets together for a good cause."
