Save our Citizens Advice Bureaux

Full Text of Petition

The Citizens Advice Bureaux (C.A.B.) in Leatherhead and Dorking are funded almost entirely by Mole Valley District Council. They are an invaluable service that provides free legal advice and informaiton to local people.

The District Council has revealed that it intends to slash their funding. The funding for the year 2009-10 is to be cut by almost £12,000, with a further cut of £10,000 in the 2010-11 grant. The Leatherhead C.A.B. would be forced out of its current premises. THe C.A.B.s are needed now more than ever. The Leatherhead and Dorking branches have reported a massive increase in the number of people coming to them for financial advice since the credit crunch kicked in.

We, the undersigned, oppose the threats to the Citizens Advice Bureaux in Leatherhead and Dorking
