The contract for average speed cameras has now gone out to tender, and installation on the A24 between North Holmwood and Beare Green to address speeding is expected during the 2024-25 financial year.

Cllrs Rosemary Hobbs and Claire Malcomson have had written confirmation from Surrey County Council that average speed cameras could be installed before December this year. Cameras will be installed in 4 locations: just south of the North Holmwood roundabout, north of the Beare Green roundabout and before / after the junction with Mill Road.

This is fantastic news for residents who access this stretch of the A24. Having all campaigned on the issue of speeding along here for many years, at last we have a successful outcome. Accident numbers should reduce as a result, as they did when cameras were installed at Mickleham”, said Cllr Clayton Wellman, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy.

The District Councillors also visited the newly cleaned and painted subway at South Holmwood.

I am delighted to see that work is well underway to renovate both South and North Holmwood subways using my funding allocation, with new roof lights already installed at North Holmwood”, reported County Cllr Stephen Cooksey.
