HELPING OUR COMMUNITY
Lawrence has volunteered as Treasurer at Bookham Tennis Club for 15 years, and has helped to fund-raise £1000s for charities, including raising funds for the Old Barn Hall as a member and Chairman of Bookham Bridge Club.

SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES
Lawrence supports the new Bookham Master Plan which was put together by a council working group and included the Bookhams Residents’ Association whom we thank for their involvement. It explores ideas that focus on improving Bookham’s business and shopping areas.

DELIVERING SAFER STREETS
As a keen cyclist and walker Lawrence backs our campaign for better footpaths and safer streets for residents. Recent successes include the 20mph speed limit in East Street and 30mph speed limit along the rural roads down to Westhumble and Ranmore. Further improvements are sought to ensure 20mph limits are introduced outside schools.

DEFENDING OUR GREEN BELT
The Council’s Local Plan was adopted in October 2024 and is helping to safeguard our Green Belt from inappropriate development while delivering the affordable housing we need. We have protected the Bookham Fields site and rejected developers’ attempts to re-categorise Green Belt land as Grey Belt.

BOOKHAM’S YOUTH CENTRE
In May 2021 Tory run Surrey County Council (SCC) promised £2.5M to fund a new youth centre at the Lower Road Recreation Ground. We are now informed that SCC will not be providing a new youth centre on the site. Lawrence along with Chris Coghlan MP and councillors are pressing SCC to deliver the promised youth centre.
