Community Governance in existing Rural Parish Councils
The Community Governance Review is not proposing any changes to existing Parish Councils in Mole Valley apart from Holmwood, Headley and Brockham. Details of the changes there are given in separate pages.
The other rural Parishes have Parish Councils which raise a precept from the local Council Tax and are subject to re-election every 4 years. They also control expenditure of the Neighbourhood element of Community Infrastructure Levy (paid by new developments).
This initial round of consultation did not identify any governance changes for these areas, so there are no proposals to change their Parish Council arrangements.
However experience with other areas suggest that moving to larger, more remote Unitary Councils may increase local demand for Parish Councils to take greater control of assets and services in their area; these could reflect local priorities and be delivered by local suppliers who know the area. We encourage local residents to actively engage with the Parish Councils if they have views on this.
