Pothole Survey
Residents frequently complain that the poor state of our roads and potholes go unfixed for long periods of time and that temporary repairs often don’t do enough, leaving the same issues to reappear again.
According to the Royal Automobile Club (RAC), pothole damage to cars costs an average of £600 to fix. Potholes can become dangerous on poorly lit rural roads at night and increases the risk of accidents for all road users.
Under Conservative leadership, £50 million has been spent on fixing potholes in Surrey over the last few years, yet many feel road conditions aren't getting any better. The results of this survey will be used to write to Surrey County Council, calling for faster pothole repairs and greater clarity on how they are managing this problem. Often, when there’s several potholes in the same area, only one is fixed at a time, despite workers already being on site.
