Known to be a dangerous stretch of road, the A24 through Holmwood and Beare Green has now seen the installation of new average speed cameras following a successful, long-fought campaign led by Lib Dem County Councillor, Stephen Cooksey. Speed cameras are proven to reduce dangerous driving and road accidents, making this a major step forward in addressing road safety for everyone.

Stephen Cooksey, Lib Dem County Councillor for Dorking South and Holmwoods said:

“Similar cameras on other dangerous roads have proved successful in reducing speeds and accidents. Residents have already reported improved driver behaviour, and a less stressful environment. So, I’m very happy these are in place.”

The project also saw support from Mole Valley’s Lib Dem Councillors, Holmwood Parish Council and local residents.

This is another clear example of our commitment to safer streets and roads for residents. We will continue to work with the County Council to secure further improvements to road safety in the area.
