Fetcham Splash

The footpaths in Fetcham provide routes to school, stations, work and shops and are short cuts without needing a bus or car.

The Cannon Grove footpath across Fetcham Springs is flooded for most months of the year and getting worse. Last summer, Surrey County Council said repair works would start “soon”, but 6 months have passed without action.

Langaller Lane connects Cobham Road with The Glade. Following SES Water’s installation of a new water main this is unusable because of deep slippery clay. The local Lib Dem Councillors have asked Surrey County Council to restore it to its previous condition.

The Splash is an important by-way to Leatherhead. Your Liberal Democrat councillors are working with Mole Valley Council right now to organise repairs to the uneven section with exposed tree roots.

Liberal Democrat Cllr. Phil Hammond says, “These local routes are vital and we are constantly asking for work on them. But there are wider issues too. The River Mole is flooding more frequently. Sometimes local children and commuters get into Leatherhead but can’t get home again. There are probably 200,000 journeys using these paths every year and our access routes may need a complete re-think.”
