District Council Reports Strong Progress and Financial Stability for 2024/25

The latest Mole Valley District Council’s (MVDC’s) performance and financial report highlighting significant progress in delivering MVDC’s priorities for the period April 2024 to March 2025 has been published and will be considered at the Cabinet meeting on 17 June.
The report outlines a strong track record of achievement, with over 90% of performance indicators either on target or only slightly behind as of March 2025. Notable improvements were seen in housing, environmental initiatives, and strategic leadership.
Prudent financial management at the Lib Dem-run Council achieved a revenue underspend of £0.5 million against the 2024/25 budget.
Looking ahead, MVDC is committed to completing the remaining Annual Plan objectives in 2025/26. The Council is also seeking approval for a one-off revenue budget of £100,000 for essential health and safety remedial works to playgrounds and equipment, as well as a supplementary capital budget to address urgent works at the Dorking Depot.
Commenting on the report, Leatherhead Councillor Bridget Kendrick, the Leader of MVDC, said: “This report reflects MVDC’s continued commitment to delivering for our residents and businesses, while maintaining strong financial position. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and confident in our ability to meet the challenges ahead with resilience and focus.
“Our Transformation Programme – Evolve 2026 – contributed towards delivering over £1.2m of savings, which made a significant difference in maintaining our financial resilience and we are particularly proud of it. With a £0.5 million underspend and maintaining a reasonable level of reserves, we are well-positioned to respond to future challenges and invest in the priorities that matter most to our residents. The additional funding we are seeking for playgrounds and the Dorking Depot reflects our ongoing focus on community wellbeing and operational excellence.
“As we move into 2025/26, we the focus will be on completing the remaining objectives and continuing to deliver value for money for our residents and businesses.”
