In the 5th June by-election for a place on Horley Town Council, Liberal Democrat Sam Mearing won with 62% of the vote. She joins Steve Wotton who was elected in 2023 on the Town Council representing the Horley West ward.

Sam's win represents another success for the local Liberal Democrats since it was announced that Horley would become part of the new Dorking & Horley Parliamentary constituency:

  • In 2023, Steve Wotton was one of six successful candidates for Horley West in the regular Town Council elections;
  • In May 2024, Steve was also elected to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council for the ward of Horley West and Sidlow;
  • In July 2024, Chris Coghlan was elected as MP for Dorking & Horley.
