Mole Valley Commits Investment to Community Infrastructure

We believe that as our community grows, our infrastructure needs to keep up - whether that’s safer cycle routes, better healthcare, or great places for children to learn and play. That’s why Mole Valley Liberal Democrats have secured over £11 million since 2016 through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), with around £35 million expected to be invested in vital projects across the district, once Local Plan housing development is complete.

We’re proud to be launching a Strategic CIL Priority Spending Programme—a practical plan that will kickstart improvements. This includes upgraded health provision in Ashtead, Bookham and a health hub in Leatherhead; new early years provision for families in Ashtead and Dorking; investment in our parks; and train station improvements in Dorking.

This is about delivering the right infrastructure, in the right places, at the right time—making sure schools, NHS services, and public spaces grow alongside new homes, not after the fact. We’re working closely with our partners to get these projects moving, using funds collected from developers.

Cllr Bradley Nelson, Cabinet Member for Planning & Infrastructure, says:
“Approving this investment shows we’re serious about delivering for local communities. It’s about more than just building houses—it’s about building a thriving, sustainable Mole Valley for everyone.”
