At an Extraordinary Council meeting on Monday 17th January, councillors of all parties voted to support the Liberal Democrat initiative to request a Main Modificaiton to the new Local Plan removing all undeveloped housing sites in the Green Belt from the Plan.
The Liberal Democrat administration is proposing to remove all Green Belt sites from the Mole Valley Local Plan. Engagement with the Government's Inspector, who is examining the plan, is being triggered via the calling of an Extra-ordinary Council meeting on 16th January. This follows indications, before Christmas, from the Secretary of State of intended changes in Government policy.

Former army officer Chris Coghlan has been selected as Mole Valley Liberal Democrats' prospective parliamentary candidate for the next general election. Chris takes over from Cllr Paul Kennedy, who stood in the last three general elections and increased the Lib Dem vote from 14% in 2015 to 34% (19,615 votes) in 2019, the local party's best ever result in Mole Valley constituency.
